HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM MDT /NOON CDT/ SUNDAY TO 9 PM MDT /10 PM CDT/ MONDAY
What:
West winds 35 to 55 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
Where:
Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and Southeast New
Mexico, including Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
When:
From 11 AM MDT /noon CDT/ Sunday to 9 PM MDT /10 PM CDT/
Monday.
Impacts:
Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile
vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Severe
turbulence near the mountains will be hazardous for low flying
light aircraft.
Instructions:
Winds will be particularly hazardous at higher elevations where the
strongest winds are likely to occur. Be especially careful driving
in these mountainous areas. People driving high-profile vehicles
should strongly consider postponing travel in these areas until the
winds subside.

Delay travel through Guadalupe Pass or find another route, if
possible.

Use caution if flying low near the mountains as severe turbulence is
possible.

What:
Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph
expected.
Where:
In New Mexico, Eddy County Plains. In Texas, Eastern
Culberson County.
When:
From noon MDT /1 PM CDT/ Sunday to midnight MDT /1 AM CDT/
Sunday Night.
Impacts:
Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile
vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Blowing dust
can reduce visibility suddenly to zero, especially in areas where
bare fields exist.
Instructions:
Use caution when driving as blowing dust may reduce visibility.

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM AKDT SUNDAY
What:
Southwest winds 45 to 60 mph, with gusts up to 80 mph
expected.
Where:
Atka and Adak.
When:
From 7 PM this evening to 4 PM AKDT Sunday.
Impacts:
High winds may move loose debris, damage property, and
cause power outages. Travel will be difficult.
Additional Details:
There will be two rounds of strong winds,
with the worst conditions expected Sunday morning. For today,
easterly winds gust up to 60-70 mph in the morning, then winds
change direction and drop as low as 35-45 mph as the storm center
moves through. Westerly winds gust up to 70-80 mph Sunday morning,
then slowly decrease through Sunday evening.
Instructions:
People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around
or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of power outages.
