PERIODS OF HEAVY WET SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS FOR THOMPSON PASS LATE FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING
A frontal system will lift a plume of moisture from the tropical
Pacific into Prince William Sound and along the coastal mountains
through Saturday morning. The bulk of this precipitation will fall
in the form of heavy wet snow through Thompson Pass as
temperatures range from 29 to 33 degrees. 7 to 12 inches of snow
is possible Friday morning through Saturday morning with the
heaviest falling Friday evening through early Saturday morning.
Southeasterly winds may gust up to 30 mph at times throughout the
event. The combination of snow and gusty winds may reduce
visibility through the Pass to as low as one-half mile at times.
There is the possibility that rain may mix in at times, especially
during the Friday afternoon hours. If rain does mix in with snow,
expect lower snowfall amounts.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road
conditions call 5 1 1 or visit 511.alaska.gov.
