HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK FOR YUKON, DRAANJIK AND PORCUPINE RIVERS
ESFAFG
...Locations Impacted...
Yukon Flats
The Yukon River breakup front was 28 miles downstream of Fort Yukon
on Thursday afternoon. Several large ice runs from the ice jams
below Dawson have cleared Eagle and will be making their way past
Circle and Ft. Yukon today and tomorrow. Water level rises are
expected with these ice runs, but no flooding.
The ice jam on the Draanjik River is still holding and causing
flooding in Chalkyitsik as water levels are expected to continue
rising slowly until the ice jam degrades or releases. Downstream
flooding from this jam release is not expected.
The Porcupine River breakup front was in Old Crow on Thursday
morning. Water levels were low after the ice moved out. Water from
breakup at Old Crow usually reaches the mouth of the Porcupine in
4-5 days.
