COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 4 AM PDT MONDAY
What:
High astronomical tides and a positive tidal anomaly will
cause minor flooding in low lying areas around Humboldt Bay. Up
to one half foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is
possible near shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 8.6 and
9.0 feet MLLW at the North Spit tide gauge is predicted.
Where:
Northern Coastal Humboldt County.
When:
From midnight tonight to 4 AM PDT Monday. High tide is at
02:00 AM at the Humboldt Bay North Spit tide gauge. Saltwater
inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high
tide.
Impacts:
Flooding of low lying areas around Humboldt Bay
including parks and roads with only isolated closures expected.
Flooding will likely impact Jackson Ranch Road in the Arcata
Bottoms and several roads in King Salmon.
Instructions:
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

Feet Above Ground is locally defined as feet above the Highest
Astronomical Tide or HAT.

COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING
What:
Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low
lying areas due to tidal flooding.
Where:
Shoreline in Anne Arundel County.
When:
Until 10 AM EDT this morning, especially around the
time of high tide.
Impacts:
At 2.6 feet, water may begin to pond in the parking
lot at Annapolis City Dock, and surround the Alex Haley
Memorial.
Additional Details:
Tides one to one and a half feet above
normal. High tide at Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy is ongoing.
Instructions:
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

What:
For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents
expected. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal
flooding expected. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking
waves of 5 to 6 feet expected in the surf zone.
Where:
Kenedy Island, Willacy Island and Cameron Island
Counties.
When:
For the High Rip Current Risk, from 6 AM CDT this
morning through Monday evening. For the Coastal Flood
Advisory, from 6 AM this morning to 1 PM CDT this afternoon.
For the High Surf Advisory, from 6 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT
this evening.
Impacts:
Nuisance flooding is expected, with water reaching
or pushing into the dunes on South Padre Island. Vehicles,
except those with four wheel drive and high wheel bases, will
be unable to be driven on the beach. This includes locations
north of Public Beach Access #3. Minor to moderate beach
erosion is expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions
and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the
best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Instructions:
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

Until 7 PM CDT this evening.
Impacts:
Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated
road closures expected.
Instructions:
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
