4 inches with locally higher totals possible. Winds could gust as
high as 35 mph.

Portions of east central, north central, and northeast
Georgia.

From Friday evening through Sunday morning.
Impacts:
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely
become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions.
Additional Details:
Wind chills will range from 5 degrees below
zero to the lower teens above zero on Saturday and from ten degrees
below zero to to the single digits above zero Saturday night and
Sunday morning.

Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you
must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep
you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce
your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat

Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use
extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

What:
Dangerously cold wind chills ranging from 10 below zero in
the north Georgia mountains to the single digits above zero in
central Georgia.
Where:
All of north and central Georgia.
When:
From Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon.
Impacts:
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.
Instructions: Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go
outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.

Very cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills are expected
across north and central Georgia this weekend, leading to an
extended threat for pipe bursts and cold-related illnesses. Wind
chill values between 0 and negative 10 are positive in north
Georgia and low single digits to just below zero are possible
across all of central Georgia..
