the highest peaks.

Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Lake Isabella area.

Until 5 PM PDT Wednesday.
Impacts:
Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening and Tuesday
morning commutes.
Instructions: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden
changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the
motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your
destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially
cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is
winterized and in good working order.

What:
Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 8 to 16
inches between 7000 and 9000 feet and 1 to 2 feet above 9000 feet.
Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
Where:
Eastern Sierra Slopes.
When:
Until 5 AM PDT Wednesday.
Impacts:
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous.
Additional Details:
Travel may become difficult on Highway 168
west of Bishop due to icy and snow packed roads. Whitney Portal
will observe sharp deterioration in conditions with extreme danger
to hikers and campers unprepared for the winter weather.
Instructions: Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

inches with 1 to 2 feet along the Sierra crest. 1 to 4 inches of
snow accumulation for communities along Highway 395. Ridge winds
gusting up to 70 mph.
Where:
Mono County.
When:
Until 11 AM PDT Wednesday.
Impacts:
Travel could be very difficult, especially through
mountain passes such as Sonora and Tioga passes. The hazardous
conditions will impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
Additional Details:
Heaviest snowfall is expected late tonight
through Tuesday afternoon with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per
hour at times.
Instructions: If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. Do not attempt travel on high
elevation roads if they are closed. The latest road conditions for
