Isolated gusts up around 60 MPH from the northwest are forecast
today. High profile vehicles may be toppled in these strong winds.
Blowing dust may also reduce visibility to less than a mile near open
fields, causing hazardous driving conditions and poor air quality.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the entire Tri-State area. Dry
and breezy conditions will all fires to rapidly spread out of
control.

DISCUSSION...
Gusty south winds will prevail again today, with some gusts
exceeding 30 miles an hour at times. Thunderstorms are expected to
develop by late this afternoon along and ahead of a cold front
that will enter northeast Oklahoma by sunset and push southeast
across the area this evening and overnight. Other scattered storms
may develop from southeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas late
this afternoon and evening. During the evening hours, storms will
congeal into one or more lines of storms and will progress east
across the area. A few severe storms will likely occur, with large
hail and damaging winds being the main severe weather threats
initially, with damaging winds becoming the main threat by mid
evening. An isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out,
especially early this evening. Locally heavy rainfall will be
likely as well, which may lead to some localized flooding issues.

This hazardous weather outlook is for northeast and north central
Colorado.

Widespread windy conditions, with gusts up to 55 mph in and near
the foothills, are expected today. Across the plains, gusts up to
45 mph will be possible. This will lead to elevated to critical
fire weather conditions across the lower elevations. Winds should
diminish this afternoon into the overnight hours.

Across the mountains, a few snow showers will linger through the
day today, with light accumulations possible across the Park
Range.

A gradual warming trend is expected this weekend into next week.
Temperatures should warm from the low 60s on Saturday to the
upper 60s to low 70s by early next week.

The main concern through today continues to be the potential for
widespread icing north of I-90. Total ice accumulation between
a trace to 0.20" is possible, with the highest amounts along and
north of Highway 14.

The freezing rain transitions to a wintry mix and eventually snow
from west to east through the afternoon and tonight. This area may
also see light snowfall totals from 1 to 3 inches, with highest
amounts northwest of a Chamberlain to Brookings line.

Scattered snow showers may linger into Saturday morning. Combined
with northwest winds gusting up to 35 mph, brief visibility drops or

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight

Rounds of scattered thunderstorms are forecast today. The first
round over western into northeastern Iowa may contain large hail
this morning into early this afternoon. Then, additional storms
will develop over southwestern Iowa this afternoon and move
across the state with large hail, damaging winds, and a few
tornadoes possible into this evening. The highest risk is in
southern Iowa, roughly south of I-80.

Pockets of heavy rain could also lead to ponding and flooding,
particularly in urban areas. Recent heavy rains will lead to
within bank rises on some area rivers and streams. Minor flooding
of low lying areas may also occur.

southeastward moving cold front this afternoon and evening.
Locations along and southeast of the Kansas Turnpike will have the
best chance for storms. The strongest activity could produce 60-70
mph winds and quarter sized hail. Heavy rain may aggravate ongoing
river flooding in parts of southeast Kansas.

A very high grassland fire danger will develop over central Kansas

DISCUSSION...

this afternoon into early this evening. Thunderstorms will then

U.P. tonight into Saturday morning. For most of the U.P. freezing
rain is expected with up to a 90% chance for a quarter inch of
more of ice accumulation. Chances for significant ice

lower elevations near Lake Superior. Difficult travel conditions

Iowa by late morning and early afternoon, with no severe weather

Late this afternoon and this evening, an Enhanced, level 3 of 5
risk in in effect for southwestern portions of the outlook area,
southwest of Williamsburg to Burlington Iowa, with a level 1 and
2 risk farther east and north. Damaging winds, tornadoes, and
large hail are possible in storms that form late this afternoon
into the early overnight hours, as they move northeast around 45
mph. These storms could also bring a the threat for localized
