and west-central Arkansas on the nose of a strong low level jet
streaming ahead of the the frontal boundary. Modest elevated
instability and deep layer shear should support a strong storm or
two, with hail being the primary threat through sunrise Tuesday.

A strong cold front will move through the area late tonight
through Tuesday. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are
forecast to be ongoing along and ahead of the front Tuesday
morning. At this time, the greater thunder potential is
anticipated ahead of the front over southeast Oklahoma into
western Arkansas during the day Tuesday. Behind the front, gusty
winds develop Tuesday and continue into the day on Wednesday with
gusts near 40 mph possible, especially Wednesday with light
rain/drizzle through the day Wednesday across northeast Oklahoma
and northwest Arkansas. Areas of frost will be possible for the
latter half of the week, especially Friday morning across much of
the area as lows dip into the 30s for most locations.

Rain returns on Tuesday morning, and continues on-and-off through
Wednesday afternoon. A few rumbles of thunder could be possible in
southern Missouri with these rain showers, but no severe weather
is expected. Highest rainfall amounts are expected in central
Missouri, where localized amounts up to two inches are possible,
but most areas will only see between a half of an inch and an inch
of rain.
Gusty northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph accompany this system. The
strongest winds are forecast along and west of Highway 65 Tuesday
night into Wednesday.
Thursday through Saturday mornings, overnight temperatures in the
30s may pose a frost or freeze risk.

Snow showers will move across the northern Colorado mountains
today, with accumulations of 1 to 4 inches above 10,000 feet, and
light showers down into the mountain valleys. The snow will
diminish this evening. Scattered showers will move over the plains
with a cold front this afternoon and evening, with an isolated
thunderstorm possible. Brief heavy rain and wind gusts to 50 mph
are possible. Outside of the showers, wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph
can be expected behind the front, diminishing overnight.

Patchy fog will be possible over portions of the eastern plains and
the Highway 50 corridor early this morning, mainly east of I-25.
Please use caution on area roadways if you encounter fog and poor

High fire danger is expected across portions of the I-25 corridor,
mainly through southern El Paso, Pueblo, and Huerfano Counties.
Please avoid any activities that could start a wildfire today,
especially in these areas!

Critical fire weather conditions will be possible across the
southwest mountains and the San Luis Valley Tuesday afternoon.
A widespread hard freeze is anticipated Tuesday night, with most
locations realizing overnight low temperatures in the teens to mid
20s. Take measures now to drain swamp coolers, and protect outdoor
irrigation and faucets.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding in urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes, particularly across eastern Puerto Rico,
including the San Juan metropolitan area. There is a low chance
of isolated flash floods. Elsewhere, plan for water ponding on
roads and in poorly drained areas.
.Excessive Heat...This level of heat affects primarily those
individuals extremely sensitive to heat, especially when outdoors
without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. These
conditions are most likely across lower elevations and coastal
areas.
.Wind...Breezy conditions (18-22 kts | 21-25 mph), particularly
across coastal areas of southwestern Puerto Rico. Unsecured items
could blow around.
.Marine Conditions...Small craft should exercise caution,
particularly across the offshore Atlantic waters and Mona
Passage.
.Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the
surf zone, particularly across the northern half of Puerto Rico,
Culebra and Vieques. Isolated stronger rip currents may occur
elsewhere, especially near piers, jetties, and channels.

Lightning will continue through mid to late week due to
instability from distant Hurricane Melissa, then shift to more
localized afternoon activity. Rainfall will range from limited to
elevated, focusing on the east and southeast early in the week and
the north and northwest by the weekend. Heat remains elevated
through most of the week, while winds stay mostly light with
occasional gusts over the southwest, Vieques, and Culebra. Marine
conditions will turn choppy to hazardous as northerly swells
arrive, with a high rip current risk TuesdayWednesday and
moderate levels afterward.
