FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE POTENTIAL COMPROMISE OF THE CALEDONIA-LEWISTON LEVEE ON THE WISCONSIN RIVER REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING
What:
Flash flooding due to the potential compromise of the
Caledonia-Lewiston Levee. The Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources has indicated that the Calendonia-Lewiston Levee along
the Wisconsin River may become compromised as the river levels
rise. If this takes place, a rapid inundation of water is expected
along the south and west side of the river. The City of Portage is
not anticipated to be impacted by a potential compromise of the
Caledonia-Lewiston Levee.
Where:
A portion of south central Wisconsin, including the
following counties, Columbia and Sauk along the south and west
side of the Wisconsin River. Areas affected include, but are not
limited to the Pine Island State Wildlife Area and portions of
Highway 33. The City of Portage is not anticipated to be impacted
by a potential compromise of the Caledonia-Lewiston Levee.
When:
Through Sunday morning.
Impacts:
A compromised levee may result in flash flooding of
low-lying areas along the Caledonia-Lewiston Levee.
Additional Details:
- Excessive rainfall has resulted in very high water level on
the Wisconsin River. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall
is likely, with locally higher amounts possible.

Wisconsin, Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. In south central Wisconsin,
Dane, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Lafayette, Marquette and Rock. In
southeast Wisconsin, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee,
Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha.
When:
From Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Impacts:
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
Additional Details:
- Excessive rain on saturated ground may result in flooding. An
additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is likely, with locally
higher amounts possible.

Rock River Near Lake Koshkonong affecting Rock and Jefferson
Counties.
What:
Flooding is possible.
Where:
Rock River near Lake Koshkonong.
When:
From Friday evening until further notice.
Impacts:
At 11.3 feet, There is knee-deep water over Blackhawk
Island Road. Lamp Road on west side of river also becomes flooded.
Lake Koshkonong merges with Mud Lake to the east of Lake
Koshkonong.
Additional Details:
- At 9:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.2 feet.
- Forecast...Flood stage may be reached late tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

For the Kankakee River...including Shelby...flooding is possible.

Flooding is possible.
Where:
Kankakee River from Near I-65 and De Motte downstream to
IL/IN state line, including the Shelby gauge.
When:
Until further notice.
Impacts:
At 10.5 feet, Water overflows low-lying river banks
along Bluegrass Road east of Sumava Resorts and along Westwood
Drive and Island Boulevard near Shelby. Water begins to be
diverted through the Blackberry Marsh Spillway to reduce flood
impacts.

- At 8:45 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.9 feet.

- Thunderstorms will bring widespread rainfall of 0.50 to 1.50
inches with locally higher amounts of 2 to 3 inches possible
Friday afternoon through Friday night. With saturated ground,
this rainfall may lead to additional flooding.

Little Osage River at Fulton.

Impacts:
At 25.0 feet, Farmland at the gage site becomes covered
by flood waters, and Highway 31, east of town becomes flooded.
Highway 31, four miles west of Fulton has flood waters four to six
feet in depth. 225th Street, near Xavier Road, 1 mile east of
Fulton is flooded.
