What:
Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to
elevated surf.
Where:
Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches.
When:
Through this afternoon.
Impacts:
There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats
nearshore.
Additional Details:
Minor coastal flooding will be possible
around the time of morning high tide on Tuesday along west
facing beaches. High tides should peak around 6.0 feet between
930 and 1000 am.
Instructions: Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or
stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly
in such conditions, stay off the rocks.

An increased risk of sneaker waves and strong rip
currents with breaking waves of 14 to 19 feet.
Where:
Pacific Coast beaches.
When:
From 12 AM PST Thursday through 9 PM PST Saturday
evening.
Impacts:
Dangerous conditions are forecast along the shoreline.
Hazards include sneaker waves, strong rip currents, and large
breaking waves.
Instructions: Stay off of jetties, piers, rocks, and other waterside
infrastructure. Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous surf
and NEVER turn your back on the ocean. Monitor local weather,
surf and tide forecasts at www.weather.gov/mtr.
